What is the Ontario Clean Energy Benefit (OCEB)?

Ontario Clean Energy Benefit Relief (OCEB)

The OCEB provided eligible customers a 10 per cent rebate on the total cost of electricity charges related to electricity consumption on their bills including HST, effective with electricity consumed January 1, 2011. Effective September 1, 2012, the government limited the 10 per cent rebate on electricity bills to the first 3,000 kWh of electricity used a month. This rebate was to be in effect for five years until December 31, 2015.

What’s changing on the bill?

The OCEB benefit will end on December 31, 2015 as planned, after its scheduled five-year run.

In place of the OCEB, eligible low-income households will receive assistance directly on their electricity bills in a program called the Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP).
